There are holidays that help you relax, and then there are holidays that stay with you forever. My recent trip to North Goa was one such experience — filled with golden beaches, mouthwatering cuisine, vibrant nightlife, warm hospitality, and countless moments that made me fall in love with Goa all over again.
From the moment I arrived in Calangute, often referred to as the “Queen of Beaches,” I knew this vacation was going to be special. The lively atmosphere, swaying coconut palms, the aroma of fresh seafood, and the sound of waves crashing along the shoreline created the perfect setting for a memorable escape.
Calangute is the beating heart of North Goa. Centrally located between Candolim and Baga, it offers easy access to some of Goa’s most popular attractions while maintaining its own unique character. Whether you are a beach lover, foodie, adventurer, or someone simply seeking relaxation, Calangute has something for everyone.

My mornings began with leisurely walks along Calangute Beach. Watching the sunrise paint the sky in shades of orange and gold while fishermen prepared their boats for the day was truly magical. The beach itself stretches along Goa’s beautiful coastline and remains one of the most visited and vibrant destinations in the state.
Just a short drive from Calangute lies Baga Beach, famous for its energetic vibe and exciting water sports. Parasailing above the Arabian Sea gave me breathtaking aerial views of the coastline, while the beachside cafés provided the perfect setting to unwind after an adventurous day.
For a more peaceful beach experience, Candolim was a welcome surprise. The beach is less crowded, making it ideal for long walks and sunset photography. The relaxed atmosphere allowed me to appreciate Goa’s natural beauty without the hustle and bustle.
No trip to North Goa is complete without visiting Fort Aguada. Standing atop the historic Portuguese fort and gazing out over the Arabian Sea was a memorable experience. The panoramic views and rich history make it one of Goa’s most iconic landmarks.
Anjuna offered a completely different vibe. The beach, famous for its rocky coastline and laid-back atmosphere, was perfect for an evening visit. The nearby flea market was a treasure trove of handicrafts, jewelry, clothing, and souvenirs that reflected Goa’s vibrant culture.
One of the highlights of my trip was undoubtedly the food. Goa’s cuisine is a fascinating blend of Indian and Portuguese influences, resulting in flavors that are bold, rich, and unforgettable.
This traditional dish quickly became my favorite. Fresh fish cooked in a tangy coconut-based curry served with steamed rice perfectly captured the essence of Goan cuisine.
The spicy and tangy flavors of Prawn Balchão were unlike anything I had tasted before. Every bite carried a delightful balance of heat and complexity.
Marinated with aromatic herbs and spices, Chicken Cafreal was a delicious reminder of Goa’s Portuguese culinary heritage.
No Goan meal is complete without Bebinca. This layered dessert was the perfect sweet ending to every meal.
During my stay, I explored several restaurants and beachside eateries around Calangute and Baga.
The beach shacks offered incredibly fresh seafood, while local restaurants introduced me to authentic Goan recipes passed down through generations. Whether it was grilled kingfish, butter garlic prawns, calamari, or traditional vindaloo, every meal felt like a celebration of local culture.
Evening dinners by the beach, accompanied by live music and cool sea breezes, became some of the most cherished memories of the trip.
A memorable holiday requires more than beautiful destinations — it requires a comfortable and welcoming place to call home. For me, that place was Calangute Grande.

Located just a short walk from Calangute Beach, the hotel offered the perfect balance of convenience, comfort, and hospitality. The spacious air-conditioned rooms, inviting swimming pool, excellent restaurant facilities, and attentive staff ensured that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable.

What impressed me most was the warmth of the team. Every request was handled with genuine care and professionalism. Whether it was arranging local sightseeing, suggesting dining options, or simply ensuring guest comfort, the staff consistently went above and beyond.
The hotel’s location made exploring North Goa incredibly easy, with Calangute Beach, Baga Beach, Candolim Beach, shopping areas, and nightlife all within easy reach. Guests also benefit from modern amenities including Wi-Fi, laundry services, a swimming pool, restaurant and bar facilities, and comfortable well-appointed rooms designed for relaxation after a day of exploration.
As my holiday came to an end, I realized that North Goa is not just a destination it is an experience. It is the laughter shared over dinner, the sunsets watched from the beach, the flavors that linger long after the meal is over, and the people who make you feel welcome.
My trip to Calangute and North Goa left me with wonderful memories, countless photographs, and a promise to return soon.
